HIS HONOUR JUDGE THORNTON: In this case, the Health and Care Professions Council v Theresa Anne Holland, CO/4539/2014, an application is made to extend the period of the interim conditions of practise order in a case that is now before the Council and for which a hearing has been fixed for the period 27 to 30 October 2014.
The case is old in the sense that the matters complained of occurred some time ago. However, the hearing has now been fixed and it is clearly appropriate that an extension of the order should be made so as to take the case beyond the reasonable anticipated conclusion of the hearing and of the case. The three month period from 19 October 2014 is wholly appropriate.
The Claimant Council has sought an extension of 12 months. Counsel has been unable on instructions to provide any explanation as to why it is reasonably necessary for the extension to be for such a lengthy period, given that the hearing is anticipated to be concluded and the decision announced on or before 30 October 2014.
In those circumstances, I am extending the order until 19 January 2015. Thank you very much.
