J U D G M E N T
MR JUSTICE KENNETH PARKER: This is an application made by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to extend an interim suspension order until 1 March 2013. The original order was imposed on 2 March 2011 for 18 months and it would otherwise expire on 1 September 2012.
The facts have been set out in a helpful skeleton argument prepared by Miss Joanna Dirmikis for the Nursing and Midwifery Council. I have read that. I have read the witness statement and the exhibits. It appears to me that this is a case that has been moving with reasonable expedition and the forward projection also appears to me to be one that is reasonable and acceptable.
It is unnecessary to recite in public the factual allegations that are made against the respondent. It is sufficient to say that they are of a serious nature and would obviously call in question the fitness of the respondent to practise. Therefore it appears to me that it is in the public interest that the interim suspension order be extended for the period until 1 March 2013, and I make that order accordingly.
